Allegheny College Athletics

Raymond P. Shafer is a very prestigious Hall of Fame member, who participated in four sports at Allegheny.  A four-year letterwinner in basketball, he was the team captain in 1937 and proceeded to earn All-Pennsylvania basketball honors. Shafer earned All-America honors while playing three years of soccer.  In 1937 he participated in one year of track & field while also adding golf to his list in 1938.  Shafer later became a member on Allegheny’s Board of Trustees while also serving as chairman.
