Maurice “Rink” Kofford, Class of ‘22

Maurice “Rink” Kofford has been selected as one of the six inductees in Allegheny College’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Kofford, who earned four varsity letters in basketball and captained the squad his junior and senior years, was also given All-State mention in the sport three times. He was also a member of the track and field squad.

It must be remembered that in those early days of basketball any player could shoot the foul shots when his team members fouled. Kofford was usually chosen to shoot the Blue and Gold fouls for four years due to hid high percentage of accuracy.

A member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Kofford went on to play semiprofessional basketball for five years. He also refereed high school basketball games several years and coached YMCA youth basketball.

He retired in 1960 for Pannzoil Company after working as a process engineer.
