Chuckran was the Allegheny College football coach from 1958 through 1969.  In those 12 years the Gators posted a record of 51-37-2.  His 1968 team logged a 7-1 record equaling the Gator record for the most wins in a season.  He coached the AC grapplers to a 32-28 mark from 1959-1964.  He coached 13 All-Conference champions and won one team title.

 

A 1950 graduate of Penn State, Chuckran returned to his alma mater after leaving Allegheny.  He was an assistant coach for several seasons under Joe Paterno before being elevated to the post of administrative director of football operations at Penn State in 1977.

 

Chuckran is currently director of athletics at the University of Rhode Island.  He is also corporate president of Newport Presbyterian Church.
