Jamie (Ruffennach) Gang, like her teammate Erdos, wasted little time in etching her name as one of the all-time greats in Gator swimming history. From 1995-1998, she earned All-American honors an astonishing 20 times over the course of three separate individual events and five different relays.
As a freshman in ’95, Ruffennach finished ninth in Division III in the 100-yard butterfly and 13th in the 50-yard freestyle. In ’96, she bettered each of those marks with a fifth-place finish in the 100 fly and a sixth-place showing in the 50 free. Additionally, she earned All-American honors in a third event, placing 11th in the 100 free. She went on to garner All-American honors twice more in the 50 free and 100 free while picking up honors in the 100 fly once again in 1998. Ruffennach was also a member of 10 All-American relay teams, four of which came during the ’98 campaign. She teamed up with Erdos on seven of those relays squads and swam a leg on the aforementioned 400 medley relay team, which placed fourth at the national meet. Ruffennach holds the school record in the 100-yard butterfly and is a member of three record-holding relay squads.
