Hasson S. Rockey

Hasson Rockey was an excellent performer in both cross-country and track.  Hasson was a two-year letterman for the cross-country team and was the captain his senior year.  He was a three-year letterman for the track team, captain during his junior year and went undefeated in the half mile during his entire career of inter-collegiate competition.

 

After leaving Allegheny, Rockey went on to coach baseball, basketball, and track at Farmington High School from 1932 to 1936.  He coached Farmington’s 1936 basketball team to the championship.  From 1942 to 1945, Rockey coached baseball, basketball, and track at Saltsburg High School and coached the 1944 basketball team to the championship.

 

Rockey was Supervising Principal of Brookville Public Schools from 1945 to 1960.  He retired in 1960 and now owns and runs an antique shop.  While in Brookville, he served on the Industrial Foundation Board, the Municipal Authority Board, the Cemetery Assocation and the Recreation Assocation.  In 1964, Hasson was honored as the “Brookville Man of the Year”.
