Harry Black was an outstanding football player and wrestler at Allegheny.

 

He won three letters in wrestling and two in football. He was a captain of the football team in 1967and the wrestling team in 1966-67.  Black was named the Allegheny College Athlete of the Year in 1967.

 

While he was an outstanding two-way football player (both offensive and defensive tackle), Black earned most of his recognition on the wrestling mats.  He finished his career with a 40-3 record.  He was Allegheny’s Wrestler of the Year following both the 1965-66 and 1966-67 seasons.  Wrestling anywhere from 177 to heavyweight, Black won the President’s Athletic Conference championship at 191 pounds in both 1966 and 1967.  He was named the Most Valuable Wrestler in the PAC in 1966.  In 1967 he participated in the NCAA College Division wrestling championships.
