A tremendous dual-sport athlete, Eric Winslow was a valuable asset to both the football and track & field programs during the early 1990s. Arguably the best nose tackle in team history, Winslow paced the Gators to three North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) team titles while earning multiple All-American honors from the Football Gazette and the Associated Press.
During Eric’s tenure on the gridiron, Allegheny posted an overall record of 38-6 including a 30-1 mark in conference play. The Gators advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament three times during that same time frame while his career total of 40 tackles for loss still stands as a school record. As a senior, Eric led the Gators with 35 solo tackles while adding two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and five sacks. Following the season, he was named to three different All-American teams and was awarded the Clair Jackson Outstanding Lineman Award.
A three-time All-Conference selection for the Blue and Gold, opponents averaged just 2.4 yards per carry against an Allegheny front line headlined by Eric while the Gators ranked fourth in the nation during the 1994 campaign in both scoring and rushing defense.
Selected as the NCAC Field Athlete Newcomer of the Year in track in 1992, Eric was a two-time NCAC champion in the javelin and earned three All-Conference honors in the shot put.
