Arthur H. Gratz won four letters in basketball, three in tennis, and three in soccer. Gratz played center and forward in basketball, goalie in soccer, and number two and three singles in tennis. He set a single game scoring record in basketball in 1940 and also went undefeated at third singles that same year. Gratz was the president of Block A Club in 1939 and president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity from 1938-40.
Gratz was recipient of “1970 Graphic Arts Man of the Year” Award from Graphic Arts Monthly, he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, by Allegheny in 1972. In addition, he was awarded the “Allegheny Gold Citation” in 1980 and he was also honored as “Distinguished Pennsylvanian” by the William Penn Committee in Philadelphia in 1981.
