Anson Park ’96 became one of the top multi-sport athletes for the Gators during his time in Blue & Gold, earning All-America honors on the gridiron as an offensive lineman, winning an individual conference championship in track & field, and competing for two seasons on the men’s basketball team.
Park is most recognized for his status as an All-American, earning a pair of honors in 1995 from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the Football Gazette/News. That season, he claimed his second All-NCAC honor, landing on the First Team after previously receiving Second Team honors in 1994. A member of the NCAC’s All-Decade Team, he earned two conference championships and was a three-year letter winner. Additionally, he was named the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior and was chosen as the Allegheny Male Athlete of the Year for 1995-96.
In track & field, he competed for three seasons, placing sixth in the discus at the 1994 NCAC Outdoor Championships, before returning to win the event as a junior in 1995. Park recorded a discus throw in 1996 of 40.92 meters (134 feet, 03 inches), which still stands as the fifth-longest toss in program history.
Park also competed his final two seasons as a member of the men’s basketball team, helping the Gators to 24 wins over two seasons while playing for fellow Class of 2021 inductee, Phil Ness.
