Amy Sacunas Bollar ’96 was a nine-time All-American in the pool for the Gators, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in three years and leading the Gators to three top-14 finishes as a team.

In total, she competed in 16 events at the national championships, nine as an individual and seven relays.

She catapulted onto the scene as a freshman in 1993, earning five All-America honors and competing in seven total events. Her best finish that year was in the 400 yard individual medley, where she earned seventh place with a time of 4:35.95. She helped the 400 and 800 yard freestyle relays to eighth-place showings, and additionally finished 12th in the 200 yard breaststroke and 15th in the 400 yard medley relay. She also competed that year in the 200 IM and as part of the 200 free relay, which saw finishes of 18th and 19th place, respectively. In 1994, she posted her highest individual finish, touching the wall in 4:39.55 of the 400 IM to place sixth. She also earned All-America status in the 200 IM with a 16th-place finish and competed in the 200 breaststroke in 25th. Her senior year of 1996 brought six more events at nationals and two All-America finishes, with an 11th place individual showing in the 200 butterfly and helping the 800 free relay to a ninth-place finish. She also competed that year in the 200 and 400 IM, the 400 medley relay and the 400 free relay.

A three-time Alden Scholar in the classroom, Sacunas Bollar was named Allegheny’s recipient of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
