Allyn White earned 12 varsity letters while at Allegheny, competing on the soccer, football, basketball and track and field teams.  He was a four-year letterwinner on the basketball team and was a teammate of Raymond Shafer from 1935-38.  During his junior year, he finished second on the team in scoring behind Shafer, averaging 10.0 points per game.  The team was 7-8.  His senior year as captain of the squad, he led the team to an 8-6 record, averaging 13.0 points a contest.  That season he was named honorable mention all-district by the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph and fourth team all-district by the Pittsburgh Press.  On the track team, he competed in the half-mile and mile.  In 1939, he set a school record in the half-mile of 2:02.06, which stood for many years.
