Allen Moon was an outstanding and versatile player participating in football, track, and basketball.  He was a four-year letterman in all three sports.  He played center on the Gator basketball team and received All-Conference Honorable Mention status for his performance.  He played all positions except end for the Gator football team and competed in all the field events for the Allegheny track team.  After leaving Allegheny, he went on to play semi-pro baseball.

 

Moon went on to be an athletic coach and science teacher at Cochranton after he left Allegheny.  He was Supervising Principal of Cochranton Area Schools from 1929 to 1954 (Moon was in the armed forces from 1942 to 1946).  He was Assistant County Superintendant of Public Schools of Crawford County from 1954 to 1966.  He then took the position of Assistant Director of the Northwestern Pennsylvania Tri-County Intermediate Unit and held that position until he retired in July of 1972.

 

Moon was also very active in the community.  He was President of the Crawford County chapter of the American Cancer Society for two years and served on the ACS Board of Directors (Pennsylvania Division).  He was County Director of the Boy Scouts of America for two years and was on the Executive Committee of the French Creek Trail, B.S.A.
