Hart was an outstanding three sport athlete at Allegheny. He accomplished the rare feat of playing three sports each of his four years in college. He was the winner of nine varsity letters between basketball, soccer, and track. He received the honor of being named to Washington & Jefferson's All Opponent Team, and was captain of the soccer team his senior year.

February 14th, 1940, Alex Hart "outstanding performance paces Gators win over Western Reserve 74-56".
February 27th, 1938, game against Hamilton, "Setting the fastest scoring pace ever, Allegheny's two blond forwards, Alex Hart and Al White..
February 17th, 1940, "Gators 79, Buffalo State 26 - Hart rolled in 21 points in his own right, including several brilliant fast break baskets through the bewildered Buffalo defense."
He ended his roundball career in a 46-18 victory over Hiram, "Highlight of the evening came midway in the final period when Alex Hart, Art Gratz, and Eddie Robinson left the floor together - they were given a rousing ovation by the spectators to conclude their brilliant careers as three-year regulars."
