The 2011 Men’s Distance Medley Relay team enters the Hall of Fame in its first year of eligibility, 10 years removed from its national championship, as just the third by a team in school history (1990 Football, 1983 Men’s Golf).
Mike Vlah ’13, Taylor Throckmorton ’12, Andrew Mahone ’11 and Tony Dipre ’11 entered the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships (March 11-12, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio) with the sixth fastest time in the country in the event. However, the Gators were able to capitalize on their focus on the event and bring home the crown, earning the win by one full second over third-seeded Wisconsin-Oshkosh by posting a time of 10:00.12.
That foursome hit the NCAA Division III automatic qualifying time of 9:59.00 by running a 9:57.42 at the 2011 Boston University Valentine Invitational, an event that featured four of the top six times in the nation that season.
