The 1977-78 Golf Team finished second at the NCAA Division III Championship, with four of its members earning All-America honors. The Gators also won their third consecutive Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship, and by an amazing 51-shot margin at that. Between 1977 and 1980, a remarkable eight members of that team – Jim Allen, Jack Cline, Tom Hantke, John Jones, Bob Orr, Phil Rybecky, Greg Stone, and Bill Watt – earned All-America honors. In addition to those eight, the team included Scott Amsdell, Dave Curran, Rich Klein, Paul Lackner, and Jack McCauley. The team’s coach, Norm Sundstrom, Bill Watt and Jim Allen were previously inducted into the Hall of Fame.
