LA CROSSE, Wis. – Emily Forner concluded her stellar junior season on Saturday (May 26) at the 2018 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
Battling temperatures in the low 90's, Forner placed 20th in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:41.68.
Her performance at the outdoor NCAA meet capped off an exemplary third season in the blue and gold for Forner. During the cross country campaign, she earned All-NCAC and All-Region honors in helping the Gators to their third straight North Coast Athletic Conference team title, before she went on to place 41st at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in November.
During the indoor track and field season, Forner won the NCAC title in the mile run, while she also broke a 30-year old school record in the 3,000 meter run to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time in her career, where she placed 12th in the 3K.
Forner would then go on to win the NCAC outdoor championship in the 5K and take All-NCAC honors with a third-place finish in the 1,500 before ending with her first career outdoor NCAA Championship berth.
Named the Allegheny Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Female Athlete of the Year for 2017-18, Forner ranks in the top three in program history in four different events, including the 3,000 meter run (first in school history), the 5,000 meter run (second), the mile run (third), and the 1,500 meter run (third).
