GRANVILLE, Ohio—The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships Saturday (Feb. 17, hosted by Denison.

The Gators finished in fifth-place with a total of 981 points. That finish was the best for the Gator women since taking third in 2011. Kenyon College won the event with a score of 1953.

On the final day, the Gators had five swimmers compete in A-Finals.
Â
Alyson Codner finished 14
th in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:43.76 while
Claire Collier placed 18
th with a time of 19:20.88.

Aimee Verardi earned a trip to the A-Final of the 100-yard individual medley after establishing a new Allegheny record time of 1:00.62 in the morning prelims. In the finals, Verardi swam a 1:00.91 to take sixth-place.

Miranda Farley competed in the B-Final of the event, capturing the heat to finish 10
th overall with a lifetime best of 1:02.12

Maddie Janvrin and
Anna Verardi made the A-Finals of the 200-yard backstroke, similar to the 100-yard backstroke earlier in the week. Janvrin turned in the top performance for the Gators in the Championships as she placed fifth with a time of 2:08.19. Verardi was not far behind as she placed seventh with a time of 2:08.45.
Lizzy Kee swam in the C-Final of the event, placing 24
th overall with a time of 2:20.87.

McClaren Rodrigeuz and
Aimee Verardi represented the Gators in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle. Rodriguez finished the race with a time of 54.31 to finish in 13
th. Verardi was not far behind as she placed 15
th with a time of 54.64.

Similar to the 100-yard breaststroke, the Gators sent four to the finals of 200-yard breaststroke.Â
Megan Corletti and
Amanda Carroll earned spots in the A-Final. Corletti finished the race in sixth with a time of 2:30.2 while Carroll registered a time of 2:33.94 to take ninth.

Kaitlin Franzen placed fourth in the B-Final to finish 13
th overall with a personal best time of 2:33.57.
Rachel Montgomery swam in the C-Final, taking 20
th overall with a time of 2:52.74.

Rachel Tobler and
Riley Aul rounded out the individual events in the pool by competing in the 200-yard butterfly B-Finals. Tobler took third in the heat with a time of 2:19.25, taking 12
th overall. Aul clocked in at 2:27.42 to finish in 18
th.

Rachel Steiner and
Chelsea Pietrzycki made it to the finals of the three-meter dive. Steiner repeated her finish in the one-meter dive with a fifth-place finish, tallying 358.90 points. Pietrzycki placed sixth with a score of 302.95.

The Gators concluded the Championships with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Anna Verardi,
Aimee Verardi, Farley and Rodriguez finished fourth with a time of 3:34.94. That time was just under a second short of the school record set in 2011.

Allegheny return to the pool next Saturday (Feb. 24) at the Kenyon Fast Chance Invitational.
