CLEVELAND, Ohio - After a strong opening weekend, two Allegheny student-athletes have been named North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week.
Sophomore
Tori Valachovic was tabbed the NCAC Female Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week, while senior teammate
Allen Baugh was named the Men's Sprinter/Hurdler of the Week following their efforts at the Case Western Reserve Holiday Classic on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Valachovic opened her sophomore campaign by taking first in the 60 meter hurdles, while also placing fifth in the 400 meter dash. In the hurdles' finals, she turned in a time of 9.36 seconds to place first by just over a quarter-second. The 9.36 mark tied her top career performance, which ranks fourth all-time in Allegheny program history. She followed that up by getting clocked in 1:01.54 to take fifth the 400 meter dash, the third-best performance in the event in her young career.
Baugh also excelled in a pair of events at Case. In the 200 meter dash, Baugh turned in a time of 22.91 seconds, missing a career-best by just three-hunderedths of a second, while winning the race by two-tenth of a second. In his second event of the afternoon, Baugh placed fourth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.16 seconds, the second-best mark of his career.
This is the first NCAC weekly honor for both Valachovic and Baugh.
The Gators will now head into a six-week respite over the semester break, before returning to action on Jan. 19 at the Youngstown State Invitational.
