MEADVILLE, Pa.—The Allegheny College women's swimming and diving team kicked off the home portion of their 2017-18 schedule with a duel against Grove City College Saturday (Oct. 21).
The Gators were victorious, 160-131.
Miranda Farley and
Anna Verardi led the Gators with three individual wins apiece.
Farley's wins all came in freestyle events. She won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.93 and the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.11. Farley wrapped up her day with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.70.
Verardi won her first two events in the backstroke. She captured the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.88 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.11. She concluded the day with a first-place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.54.
Claire Collier had a first-place finish to go with a pair of third-place finishes. She was victorious in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:35.45. Collier finished third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.81 as well as the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:40.78.
McClaren Rodriguez won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.33.
Emily Schaefer and
Megan Corletti each had a pair of runner-up finishes. Schaefer took second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.19 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:14.21. Corletti finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.95 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.69.
Alyson Codner took second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:53.76.
Maddie Janvrin placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.46 and third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.60.
Rachel Tobler had a pair of third-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:05.06 and the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:24.67.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Janvrin, Corletti, Schaefer and Farley won with a time of 1:54.64.
In the diving portion of the day,
Chelsea Pietrzycki swept the two events. She won the one meter dive with a score of 250.20 while also capturing the three meter dive with a score of 204.50.
The Gators are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 28) at the Chatham Invitational in Pittsburgh.
