Allegheny Third at NCAC Fall Preview

MANSFIELD, Ohio - The Allegheny men's golf team closed the opening round of the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Fall Preview in third place.

In windy conditions at the difficult Westbrook Country Club, the Gators totaled a team score of 315 after the first of two rounds to hold a one-stroke lead over fourth-place DePauw, and trail second-place Kenyon by 11 shots.

Freshman Louie Olsakovsky continued his stellar debut fall for the Gators, as he shot a two-over 74 to sit in third place, two shots behind individual leader Isaac Hartley of Wittenberg.  Olsakovsky's opening round consisted of two birdies and 12 pars, the second most among the 46-player field.

Senior Bobby Hapanowicz closed day one in a tie for 14th place after a round of 78.  Hapanowicz shot par on 11 different holes, shooting 37 on the front and 41 on the back nine.

Sophomore Jackson Sandusky occupies the Gators' number-three spot, as he sits in 23rd place after an opening round of 81, while rookie Jack O'Leary closed out the team's scoring four with a round of 82.

Led by Hartley, reigning NCAC champion Wittenberg holds the team lead after totaling 297, as the Tigers boast five players in the top-10 in the individual standings.  Following Kenyon (304) and Allegheny, DePauw sits in third place at 315, Denison, fifth at 325, Wooster sixth at 326, and Hiram seventh at 364.

The second and final round from Westbrook will commence on Monday morning at 9 a.m.
