MEADVILLE, Pa.--
Dan Cheung and
S.J. Guillaume of the Allegheny College cross country team were named the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athletes of the Month for their performances in the month of October.
Cheung started the month off by finishing ninth overall at the Lehigh University Paul Short Invite with a time of 24:54. His finish helped lead the Gators to a ninth-place finish out of 45 teams. At the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championships, Cheung finished first in a field of 88 runners in a time of 25:17, 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. With the victory, Cheung was named NCAC Runner of the Year, as he helped Allegheny capture its second consecutive conference team title.
Guillaume opened the month by finishing 20
th at the Paul Short Invite with a time of 21:38. Her time led the Gators to a 14
th-place finish out of 44 teams. At the Rowan University Border Battle, Guillaume finished
15th in a field of 385 runners, setting a new school record with a 6K time of 21:19.
Guillaume helped the Gators place ninth in the team standings, in a field that included 13 squads that are ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (
USTFCCCA) national poll. Guillaume capped off October with a third-place finish at the NCAC Championships. Her team leading time of 22:20 led the Gators to their second consecutive team title.
