MEADVILLE, Pa. – Allegheny College has announced the hiring of
Randy Moore as the school's first Director of Peak Performance.
In this newly created role, Moore will fulfill a variety of roles in the Allegheny athletic department, included but not limited to supervising the day-to-day operations of the Wise Center's fitness area, designing and supervising workouts for student-athletes and teams, and organizing fitness plans and wellness programs for the entire campus community.
"I am very thankful and blessed to be chosen for this position," Moore said. "I am excited to be able to serve the student-athletes and Allegheny community."
While he may be the first person to hold the title of Director of Peak Performance at Allegheny College, Moore has a number of plans and goals that should make the new position a success as he arrives in Meadville.
"I want to make a positive impact in the community while promoting health and wellness," he said. "I plan to implement a structured peak performance and fitness program that will build and bring mental toughness. I want to develop discipline and respect while having fun, motivate everyone to change their mental process, and maximize everyone's performance and fitness potential."
Moore's position at Allegheny is partially funded by the NCAA Strategic Matching Alliance Grant, aimed at providing financial assistance to Division III members who are committed to enhancing gender and ethnic minority representation in intercollegiate athletic. Allegheny director of athletics
Portia Hoeg was thrilled that Allegheny was chosen as one of the NCAA grant recipients, and feels that Moore is a perfect candidate to help Gator student-athletes get a leg up on the competition, while fostering physical fitness and wellness across the Allegheny community.

Portia Hoeg. "His experience in both strength training and fitness will provide an invaluable asset to our student-athletes. In addition, he will interact with the various campus constituents and community members that utilize our exercise facilities.
"As we aspire to maximize the potential of every individual," she continued, "Coach Randy's experience will certainly provide both our teams and the entire campus community with every advantage possible. From nutrition, to strength and agility, to injury prevention, our goal is to holistically develop our student-athletes. To also have a knowledgeable individual dedicated to the safety and well-being of those in our facility is a tremendous resource."
A Detroit, Michigan native, Moore arrives at Allegheny after spending two years working with both strength and conditioning and as an assistant track and field coach at Washington, D.C.'s Gallaudet University. Most recently, Moore served as Gallaudet's assistant weight and conditioning coordinator. He assisted the head strength and conditioning coordinator in all aspects of developing, designing, and implementing strength, conditioning, flexibility, and recuperative programs, working closely with the school's basketball, volleyball, cross country, softball, and women's soccer programs. In this role, Moore was also responsible for providing daily weight room supervision, and managing all upkeep and maintenance of equipment.
Moore was hired at Gallaudet in August 2013 as a weight and conditioning intern, and was responsible for developing strength and conditioning programs for a number of Bison teams while also assisting in the day-to-day operation of the school's weight room. He also served as an assistant track and field coach at Gallaudet for the 2013-14 season, monitoring strength and conditioning programs for the team's sprinters and throwers, while also assisting in all day-to-day operations of the team.
While working at Gallaudet, Moore additionally served as a personal trainer for KICK Fitness, one of the premier gym franchises in the Washington area. He designed workout programs and provided personal instruction and exercise programing to training clients, as well as general advice and customer service to KICK patrons.
Prior to his time in Washington, Moore worked as a fitness specialist for The Industrial Athlete/Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan from June 2012-August 2013, conducting member fitness evaluations, providing one-on-one training sessions with members, and developed cardio, strength, flexibility, and core exercise programs for members, while also assisting with nutrition plans.
From April 2012-July 2013, he also served as a trainer and sports performance coach for the New Breed Training Group in Detroit, where he designed workout circuits and helped in injury prevention and rehabilitation, while also aiding in the strength and conditioning programs for high school and middle school athletes.
Moore graduated from Oakland University in December 2011 with a B.S. in health sciences, and concentration in exercise science. He was a four-year member of the track and field team as a sprinter, and remains a part of the Bears' school-record setting 4x100 relay squad.
The Detroit native was a prolific sprinter during his career at Renaissance High School, earning All-City honors in both the 100 meter dash and 4x200 relay, and All-State accolades in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.
