DESTIN, Fla. - The Women's Golf Coaches Association has announced that Allegheny senior
Liz Blyth has been named to its All-Great Lakes Region team for the 2012-13 season.
Blyth, the 2013 Allegheny College Senior Achievement Award winner, turned in a solid senior campaign to cap off an impressive career for the Gators. In 22 competitive rounds in the 2012-13 season, Blyth averaged 80.32, finishing in the top-10 in seven of 10 events, including six top-five finishes. She won individual medalist honors twice, shooting a two-day total of 155 (80-75) at the North Coast Athletic Conference fall preview, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan September 29-30, before carding a 149 (74-75) to win the Capital University Purple and White Invitational, held April 7-8, being named the NCAC Golfer of the Week after both performances.
Blyth shot 80 or lower in 13 different rounds during the '12-13 campaign, and earned First Team All-NCAC honors after taking fifth overall in the four-round conference championships. In the first NCAC championship event, hosted by Denison April 27-28, Blyth shot a two-round total of 158 (80-78) to take third, before closing out the year by shooting 165 (86-79) at the second NCAC event, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on May 4-5.
The All-Region selection is the latest in a string of accolades accumulated by Blyth over her four-year career. As a freshman in 2010, she became the first women's golfer in Gator history to earn All-American honors after finishing tenth at the NCAA National Championship. She earned her second All-American honor the next season, finishing sixth at the 2011 NCAA National Championship to lead the Gators to a sixth-place team finish, before establishing a 72-hole program record at the 2012 NCAA event with a four-round total of 313 (79-78-78-77).
