Complete GCAA All-America Scholar Team

DESTIN, Fla. –
The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced that a pair of Allegheny men's golfers are among its honorees for two year-end awards.  Junior Oliver White and senior Patrick Fritz have each been named PING Division-III Great Lakes All-Region, while White has also been named a 2013 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar.

White, a 2013 First Team All-NCAC performer, led the Gators in 2013 with a 74.21 scoring average, and posted top-10 performances in seven different events on the year.  He shot 72 or lower in nine different rounds, highlighted by a second-round 68 at The West Cup in LaVerne, Calif. on March 28.  He earned the individual title at both the Carnegie Mellon Edward Jones Shootout (April 13) and the Rosencrans Maurer Invitational (October 7), while taking second at the Rochester Fred Kravetz Invitational.  He wrapped up the year with a fourth-place finish at the four-round NCAC Championships, carding a cumulative score of 301 (77-75-76-73).

This marks White's second All-Region selection, as he also earned the honor in 2010 en-route to being named a PING All-American.  This is the first time in his career that he was named All-America Scholar.  To be eligible, a golfer must be at least a junior academically, participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0, and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Fritz, also a First Team All-NCAC performer, earns his first PING All-Region honor.  One of the Gators' most consistent golfers in 2012-13, he averaged 76.17 in 23.5 rounds of golf on the year, posting five top-10 finishes.  Fritz shot 75 or better in eight different competitive rounds, highlighted by a one-under 71 on the first day of the Allegheny Guy W. Kuhn Invitational on September 16.   He was the Gators' top finisher at the Hershey Cup (March 7-8), shooting a two-round 151 (79-72) to take fifth overall, while he shot a four-day total of 300 (73-77-74-76) at the NCAC Championship, also finishing fifth.

As a team, Allegheny posted seven top-five finishes on the 2012-13 season, including the team championship at the Wittenberg Rosencrans-Maurer Invitational (October 6-7), wrapping up the year with a third-place team finish at the NCAC Championships.
